When Open Gate Brewery London opened its doors, we knew the story couldn't begin and end at Old Brewer’s Yard. The brewery was joining an already thriving community of pubs that had been pouring exceptional pints of Guinness for years, and it was important that local publicans felt celebrated, not overshadowed.

That insight inspired 'Lovely Locals' - a collection of illustrated beer mats that paid tribute to eight neighbouring pubs renowned for serving beautiful pints of Guinness. Rather than keeping visitors within the brewery walls, the collection encouraged them to venture out, discover the local pub scene, and experience the wider community that makes London's Guinness culture so special.

Working with four illustrators, we brought each pub's unique personality to life through artwork that captured more than just the venue itself. Each illustration celebrated the ritual of a great pint, the warmth of the people, and the sense of togetherness that defines the best local pubs. The result was a keepsake that connected visitors with the neighbourhood, championed local businesses, and reinforced the idea that great Guinness is as much about community as it is about the liquid itself.
